2009, Here We Come!

What do all of the preseason articles, predictions and recollections mean? Of course it means that Daytona is almost here! Soon the NASCAR Nation will hear the words that it has been waiting to hear since Homestead in November...“Drivers Start your engines!”

I am so excited for this new season, I have been watching as much of the pre-season coverage that I can: Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, Speed Channel NASCAR coverage, Bud Shootout, the Gatorade Duel 150's and today watching Tony Stewart win the Nationwide race. The Duels both had great finishes, I was hoping to see Mark Martin in the winner's circle for Duel number 2, so close!! Congratulations to Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch.

It will be interesting to see how the economic downturn will affect attendance, it has certainly affected the teams. Who would ever have thought we would see Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, or the merger of Petty Enterprises and GEM to form Richard Petty Motorsports (GEM using the Petty name for marketing purposes)? I wonder if Robby Gordon saw that coming and that is what caused him to back out of his contract with GEM? Robby, feel free to respond to TeamLGR.com.
