Driver Introductions: Scott Speed By F. W. Burns, Team LGR Staff Correspondent
Last time I introduced you to A. J. Allmendinger. I hope you found that article interesting and will look for him on the track this year. A.J. has tons of talent and is a true racer in every sense of the word. If you missed the article on A.J., you can find it here.
For this article I would like to introduce Scott Speed.
Okay, so now you are saying, “what is so great about Scott Speed? What skills could he possibly have to compete in the ARCA, Craftsman Truck and Sprint Cup Series’?” Here is a brief rundown of what Scott brings to the table:
Prior to Scotts move back to the U.S. for stock car racing, he raced in several series including: Karts, Formula Dodge, Formula Mazda, British Formula Three, Formula Renault, GP2 Series, A1 Grand Prix and Formula One.
Most recently Scott won the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at “The Monster Mile” in Dover Delaware in only his sixth start in the series. Prior to that, Scott won the the ARCA/REMAX Kansas Lottery $150 Grand at the Kansas Speedway in April. With this type of success so early in Scott’s transition from Formula One to stock cars I think we can be rest assured that more great things are to come for this talented young 25 year old.
I think the 2008 season will bring with it a lot of excitement and upsets. Look for Scott Speed the #24 Toyota for Bill Davis Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to get the job done. If all turns out well for Scott I am sure that he will be a success in the Cup series as well.
