Lots
of Chatter on the Racing Wire
By F.
Burns, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
What do all of the preseason predictions mean?
Of course it means that Daytona is almost here, but other than that not much
really. Don’t get me wrong, I am just like the rest of the NASCAR Nation; I
can’t wait for the most famous words in racing “Drivers! Start your engines!”

Introductions: A.J. Allmendinger
By F.
Burns, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
This
week I would like to introduce A.J. Allmendinger. Anthony James is 26 years old and was born in
Los
Gatos, California on December
16, 1981. A.J. drives the # 84 Toyota Camry for Team Red Bull racing, also known as TRB, and
is predicted to be a force in NASCAR just like many of his California born
peers...

Introductions: Jacques Villeneuve
By F.
Burns, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
I can’t believe that we are almost racing
again! We are only about a month away
from the Daytona 500 and the new Winston, sorry, Nextel, oh sorry, Sprint Cup
season. And what a season it is going to
be: new cars, Toyota representing about half the field, new teammates, and a
lot of new open wheel star drivers, each of these topics I will cover in future
postings. For now I would like to talk
about one of those subjects, all of the new drivers that you will be seeing,
who they are and where they come from...

Further Review: Hot Drivers Mystify Me
By L.

When scanning the NASCAR stories these days, you
are sure to hear about the “hot” drivers who have everyone drooling to have them
in their camp. I look at these drivers, and say, “huh?”

Does the world revolve around the East Coast? Sorry
guys, its only 9:00 here, so “After Midnight” is just a song. Maybe we should

Dr.
Mag's Viewpoint: Death of a Series
By L.
"Magnum" Cole, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
It wasn’t long ago that I felt that the best series
in NASCAR was the Craftsman Truck Series. The racing was the closest of all the
divisions, and it was a series where Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge battled for
truck supremacy. Call it the last true vestige of the “Brand Wars”. But that is
all changed now, thanks to NASCAR, and its pursuit of profits...

The
Busch Cup Series
By F.
Burns, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
What a great race the Stater Brothers
300 at the California Speedway turned out to be. You are probably
asking yourself “What does he mean by the Busch Cup Series?” If
you were just caught up in the race and didn’t notice, the top
eleven finishers were Nextel Cup regulars. Maybe the term
“Buschwackers” should be changed to something like “Busch
Smashers”, or “Busch Punishers”...

Daytona
Notes and Mind Wanderings
By F.
Burns, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
Tony Stewart’s picture should be next
to the word hypocrite in the dictionary. Can you believe that guy?!
He was crying about rough driving after the Bud Shootout and if
NASCAR doesn’t do something soon someone is going to get killed.
Then, what does Stewart do? He, what looked like intentionally,
drove Matt Kenseth off of the track at 190 mph during the Daytona
500!...

If
the Trucks are any Indicator, Toyota Could be
a Cup Contender
By F.
Burns, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
I blinked my eyes at the start of the
GM Flex Fuel 250 at Daytona and I saw four Toyotas leading the pack.
As of lap eleven Mark Martin, the pole sitter, was in 5th
place. Not that Toyota is a sure thing by any means; they will have
to earn every lap and every win...

What
if...? ARCA Invasion!
By F.
Burns, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
Imagine, Frank Kimmel, three laps to go
with victory in sight, running the high line to keep his speed up
coming out or the corners. Nobody is even close to him. All of a
sudden several strange cars rocket up to his bumper, he sees a 24, a
20, a 17, a 48, and a number 8. Where did these cars come from? Oh
yeah, they came from the Cup Series, the drivers wanted to drive what
was left of the “stock cars” so their teams switched to ARCA...

Toyota and *NAFCAR (National Formula
Car Automobile Racing)
By F.
Burns, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
I would like to go on the record as
saying that I think that Toyota entering the ranks of NASCAR is a
good thing. NASCAR, or NAFCAR (National Formula Car Automobile
Racing) as it should be called going forward (we can go into that
later), has grown exponentially over the last ten years and reached a
global audience that rivals the National Football League. As such,
NASCAR fans should welcome the success of the sport and embrace new
competitors. Competition can only make things better...

Predictions
for the 2006 NASCAR Nextel Cup Season
By Todd
Berger, Team
LGR Staff Correspondent
Predictions for the 2006 NASCAR Nextel
Cup season
Every year, nearly every writer having
anything to do with NASCAR, be they professional or amateur, man or
woman, fan or hater, writes one of these prediction columns. Is it a
tiresome tradition? Sure. But each sports “journalist” has to
find a way to shake the dust of and get rid of the cobwebs, and I
think this is the universally accepted way to do that...
